Presented by Renzneil Robles, capturing the voice of Hany Lou Magpantay
Before becoming a wife and mother, Hany Lou Magpantay always pictured herself as a career-driven woman mastering her craft. However, being aware of the prejudice that challenges every woman to prosper in a work environment, she would not say she had everything exactly planned. Unbeknownst to her, all it would take was to chance upon the right workplace to grow her career.
Now content in her profession as a branch supervisor at Amway Philippines, Hany reveals the one decision that changed her views and took her life to an unexpected turn:
“Only five months after giving birth to my firstborn son in 2011, I went with my husband to an agency to accompany him on his job interview. As we arrived, I played the part of a supportive wife cheering him on. But out of curiosity, I approached the hiring team to ask if I could also apply. To my surprise, they willingly accepted my application and convinced me to take their exam.
A few weeks passed, and I received the news that I had been hired as an order entry staff for Amway Philippines. I was a contractual employee who was promoted to a regular position a year later and then to another role a few more years after. Before I knew it, I had advanced my career to become a branch supervisor, dedicating over a decade of my life to growing and thriving as a professional.
Glancing back on my past, I have always wanted to become a self-made success— though I did not expect things to unfold this way. I may have worked my way up, but I also owe this company for fostering a healthy and supportive atmosphere where women like me can reach their fullest potential.
More than any title or position, Amway Philippines changed my life for the better. I feel good about reaching the dream I wanted for myself, and not having to depend on my husband’s income to support our family. This is the influence the company has on me and many others: a promise of a better, healthier life.
If one were to ask me if I plan to be here longer, my answer is yes! More than good pay, flexible work options, or health initiatives, this is the kind of workplace where positivity thrives. So, as long as I feel I am still needed and I know I have more to offer and contribute, I will stay.”
